Daniel Scharpenburg

Daniel Scharpenburg (Gegan Kelsang Dakpa) is a meditation teacher and class facilitator. He has had a committed meditation practice for 20 years. Daniel completed Meditation Instructor Training under Lama Chuck Stanford at the Rime Buddhist Center in 2011. He volunteers at the Rime Buddhist Center as a Class Facilitator and Meditation Lead. He was given the title “Gegan” or teacher and he has taken Bodhisattva Vows.

Daniel served as director of the Rime Center Dharma School from 2011-2014, teaching children how to meditate. He also went through some teacher training and spent some time as a Zen Monk in the Five Mountain Zen Order and took vows with Ven. Wonji Dharma in the Korean Zen Tradition.

In an effort to deepen his practice and knowledge, Daniel has received teachings and instruction from various Buddhist teachers including: Lama LenaKhentrul Lodro ThayeSantikaroYounge Khachab RinpocheGeshe Tsewang ThinleyKaren Maezen Miller, and Dosho Port.

Daniel has been mentored in a virtual way by Thupten Jinpa of the Compassion Institute. He has been mentored in the Chan Tradition by Yaoxin Shakya who ordained him as a Zen Priest and Shi Da Dao who declared him a lineage holder in the Caodong Chan Lineage. 

Daniel is a registered meditation teacher (CMT-100) with the Meditation Alliance International
